Everything in music is round - the sound hole in a guitar, the opening of a saxophone, the head of a drum…like a pebble dropped into a pond - sound likes to vibrate in the shape of circles. Music is round - and always will be. The core wire of a guitar or bass string is the foundation of how that string vibrates, how it feels, how the guitar ends up sounding. That’s why DR offers a wide range of round core strings. String making originated with round core construction, and even though it is more time consuming and expensive to make round core strings, we feel it is worth it for the rich sustain and flexibility. It also allows for maximum contact between the core and the wrap wire, and as Alicia Keys guitarist, Hanan Rubinstein says "you don't have to fight your strings anymore.” Is there a big difference? We think so! Will you like it? Only you will know, so we encourage players to try something new, try something different.
