Since I started playing bass, DR has always been my first choice for bass strings. I’m a daughter of a Buffalo funkateer and bassist who got me hip to DR strings as a little girl. He would explain to me how they have the fattest sound because they are hand wound and they fit the max amount of metal onto the strings as is physically possible. I went through a variety of strings as a younger bassist since DR was typically priced higher than other strings. But after my bass tone feeling thin, too bright, too harsh, and generally unsatisfactory tone fullness, I realized why DR was worth every penny. Not only for tone reasons but because of how they’re made they can handle more time under tension and play time. On more intimate sized stages I need my bass to feel full and fat, and in large arenas I need my tone to cut thorough without it feeling too harsh or loosing fullness or over bearing bottom end. In every setting I’ve played in, DR delivers to me exactly what I need and want to hear and feel confidently behind my bass.
